Host/Hostess

Nature of the work

The host or hostess greets the customers at the door according to Scores service standards and can execute various tasks to help other dining room employees. He or she may also have to perform the same functions as the counter service person.

Main functions

Greets the customers, presents the menu, makes suggestions and answers questions about the food and beverages;
Uses sales techniques;
Maintains the dining room menus;
Has a professional appearance;
Applies health regulations as to cleanliness;
Applies safety regulations;
Applies the Work Hazardous Materials Information System;
Complies with equipment usage guidelines;
Complies with maintenance guidelines for the restaurant and equipment;
Ensures his or her work area is always clean;
Organizes his or her work area efficiently;
Executes all other tasks as requested by the supervisor;

Requirements

Interpersonal skills, facility with meeting people, teamwork, collaboration, adaptability and good verbal communication and listening skills are required. Bilingualism may be required. Good personal grooming, confidence, integrity, ability to manage stress, dynamism and flexibility are required.

Working conditions

The schedule varies according to the position, and may include days, nights, weekends or holidays. Part-time work is available. The schedule may contain split shifts.
